Louis AI (registered office at ) (“Louis,” “we,” “us”) is the data controller for personal data processed through Louis. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account data — name, email, organisation, and authentication details, via our auth provider.
- Content you submit — questions you ask Louis and documents you upload for research.
- Billing data— plan, billing address, and transaction history. Card details are handled directly by our payment processor; we don’t store full card numbers.
- Usage data — log data such as request timestamps, feature usage, and approximate location derived from IP address, used for security, support, and improving the product.
How we use it
- To operate Louis — run your searches, generate answers, and store your research threads;
- To maintain your account, authenticate you, and provide support;
- To process payments and manage subscriptions;
- To monitor for abuse, enforce usage limits, and keep the service secure;
- To improve Louis’s features and reliability, using aggregated or de-identified data where practical; and
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your queries or uploaded documents to train AI models — ours or any third party’s — and we do not sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
To generate an answer, the text of your query and relevant excerpts of your documents are sent to a small number of trusted technology providers for processing — including Anthropic and Google AI services, alongside other providers that support search, hosting, authentication, and payments. We choose providers that contractually commit not to use submitted data to train their own models, and each acts only on our instructions.
We don’t share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we’ll require the recipient to honour this policy.
Data retention
We retain account data and research threads for as long as your account is active, so your work remains available to you. If you delete your account, we delete your content and personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records for legal, tax, or security purposes. Billing records are retained as required by tax law.
Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls scoped to your account, and authenticated, isolated workspaces to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to report any suspected vulnerability to info@louis.law.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. To exercise these rights, contact info@louis.law.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. We don’t use third-party advertising cookies. Where we use any non-essential analytics in the future, we’ll update this policy and seek consent where required.
Children
Louis is intended for professional and business use by adults and is not directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices evolve. We’ll post the revised policy here with an updated date, and for material changes we’ll provide reasonable notice.
